Hi, I'm Jon Atkins, and I'm thrilled to welcome you to my blog, where I plan to share my thoughts and experiences. Let me start by telling you about 2022, a year that was challenging for me on multiple fronts - mental health, work, family, and finances. I read some books, learned to Meditate (it's still a process), and many other tips and tricks that helped me through some of my darkest hours. Through this blog, I want to share my journey and help others who may be going through similar experiences. So, let's embrace vulnerability and talk about mental health, shame, and everything else that's on our minds.
What's in my Blog?
Shame
Lots, exercise, shame, humor, challenges, mental heath, mainly a potpourri of my experiences and life. That said Brené Brown's 12 categories of shame were helpful framework for me to understanding the many areas that I and many other people struggle with. These categories include appearance and body image, money and work, parenting, family, mental and physical health, addiction, sex, aging, religion, being stereotyped or labeled, speaking up and being heard, and surviving trauma. While not all of these categories may apply to my own experiences with shame, it's important to recognize that shame can take many forms and impact different aspects of our lives. By discussing these topics on my blog, I hoping to shed light on an important and often difficult to talk about issues. #LFG
